☘️ Run for the Gold 2021 ☘️
Dear Run for the Gold 2021 Participants,
Thank you for registering for our event this year! We are so excited to be back this year and to kick off the 2021 running season for most of you. The event will look a little different this year so please read this message in its entirety.
Race Packet Pickup: Packet pickup will take place at the Montgomery Senior Center (36 Bridge Street, Montgomery, NY 12549) on Thursday, March 18th AND Friday, March 19th from 4:00pm-7:00pm. PLEASE wear a mask and keep a 6ft distance between yourself and others while picking up your bibs and swag. You may pick up for other participants. All virtual registrants will have their bibs and swag mailed to them.
Course: The Run for the Gold 5K is an open course. Please stay as far to the shoulder as possible. We are doing 6 wave starts this year which means that we will have runners on the course for a longer period of time. Please be aware of your surroundings. Police and volunteers will be spaced throughout the course but it is your job to stay safe and aware at all times. Our goal is to have all of our walkers and runners complete the course by 11:30am. Please follow all course markings, as there has been a slight change to our course from years prior. There will be no water provided on course. If you choose to bring your own water, please dispose of your container appropriately.
Race Day: Please arrive at the start line no earlier than 5-10 minutes before your wave begins (AND WEAR A MASK). We need to avoid multiple waves mixing at the start line simultaneously. As a reminder, the start of the race will be at the intersection of Wallkill Avenue and Charles Street, in front of the Montgomery Nursery School (21 Wallkill Avenue, Montgomery, NY 12549). There will be no porta-potties available at all this year so please plan accordingly.
Once you have finished the course, we ask that you exit the finish area. Water bottles will be available at the finish line. As a reminder, our finish line has moved this year due to COVID-19 restrictions and will be on Boyd Street, adjacent to the parking lot for St. Mary’s Church. We are unable to hold an award ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions and will be mailing awards to each of our winners.
We will announce our winners on our Facebook and Instagram page!
Parking: There are multiple municipal parking lots available in the Village of Montgomery. Parking lots available are at the Montgomery Senior Center, one on Clinton Street adjacent to Village Hall or the parking lot at the finish at St. Mary’s Church (89 Union Street, Montgomery, NY 12549) as well as on street parking. With the staggered start times, you should not have trouble finding a parking space.
We are looking forward to this event being a success despite restrictions beyond our control! See you at the start!☘️☘️☘️
